Art Major Expectation

At I.M. Terrell’s Department of Fine Art, apprentices learn how to examine the Human Condition by activating the creative process in an interdisciplinary studio environment. We offer a very personal environment which nurtures growth, individuality, and failure-as a means towards success.

Courses are designed to allow students to manipulate traditional medias such as drawing, painting, or sculpture while exploring mixed mediums that reflect contemporary styles and movements.

Exposure, research, and cultural analysis is vital to the growth and awareness of an apprentice becoming an artist. Throughout the matriculation of the program; museum visits, lectures, professional artist encounters, and research opportunities will become norms of their apprenticeship.

As we strive for that goal, apprentices are expected to argue their art through gallery shows, competitions (local, state-wide, national, and international) throughout their entire duration at I.M. Terrell.
